Xorg -configure teminated with a (1)

I have tried the configure in the subject, only to get an error. 
one line shows 'Segmentation fault at address 0x50

Next I got: Fatal server error
(EE)Caught signal 11 (segmentation fault). Server aborting.

I have downloaded the correct driver from ATI/AMD for this IBM Server x
3200 M2 server to be able to run X. But all I get is a blank screen.

Can you tell me if I need a new video card for my server with more
memory, or can I make this one work someway? I am running Fedora Server
26, with xorg 7.7.26-fc28.x86_64.

PS I would attach the Xorg.0.log, but I am sending this e-mail from my
laptop (also running Fedora 24)

Don't use Xorg -configure. Xorg normally works fine without a
configuration file these days. If it doesn't on this setup, share the
corresponding log file.
